"emergency gall bladder removal"

About: Crosshouse Hospital / Accident & Emergency Crosshouse Hospital / General Surgery NHS 24 / NHS 24 (111 service) Scottish Ambulance Service / Emergency Ambulance

(as a service user),

I recently went into Crosshouse Hospital A/E 3 times within 10 days, it was on the 3rd occasion it was found to be an inflamed gall bladder. I was in a lot of pain and was anxious when it was decided I needed an  operation, as although I have worked in the NHS service for 22 years have never needed their service.

From the 111 service to ambulance staff, A/E staff, ward 4A and 4B, Miss Sharp the surgical consultant and the many many staff who accompanied her I could not ask for better service. Unfortunately I cannot remember everyone's name as there were so many but one who stuck in my mind was a lady who came up from theatre to take me down and put me so much at rest before going into theatre.  I would like to pass on my gratitude to everyone involved as no one knows the day they may need the help of the NHS and I am very grateful to all who looked after me.

Hi Dianne

Thanks for sharing your story on Care Opinion. I was sorry to learn you required to undergo surgery and I do hope you are well on mend. The staff who managed your care during your stay at Crosshouse Hospital sound like a huge credit to the NHS.

It is good of you to mention also the staff who managed your call to 111 and the ambulance service. You are perfectly correct when you say, we may all need the NHS at some point. It is a real comfort to know we have access to such excellent care when we need it.

Thanks again and I wish you a good Christmas and a healthy New Year.

Best wishes

Shona

Dear Grateful Patient Dianne,

Firstly let me apologise for the delay in myself responding to you but I am only returning to work today. I am so sorry to read that you had reason to utilise our services but I am glad to see that you have been left with a very positive impression of not just our services, but the services of our extended family in all of NHS Scotland. I am hoping that you are on the road to a full recovery and you had an opportunity to enjoy the festive season and new year.

Kind Regards

Alan

I respond initially to most of the posts and ensure they are passed to the appropriate team whether they are compliments, observations or grumbles. It is important to make sure all issues are addressed and I try to encourage that to happen for all the posts as required.

Dear Grateful Patient Dianne,

And possibly last (but hopefully by no means least). May I reiterate all the sentiments already expressed by Shona and Alan (my extended family). I have just returned today, so once more, I apologies for the late response.

I will be delighted to pass this lovely post to all you mentioned at Crosshouse and I am sure you will lift their spirits on a 'drizzly' and dull Monday with your kind words. thank you so much for taking the time to post this.

While am sure it was pretty painful before your operation, I hope you are fully recovered and pain-free now.

Best wishes,

Eunice
