"wonderful caring staff"

About: University Hospital Hairmyres / Clinical haematology

(as the patient),

I have to attend the day ward in Hairmyres 4 days of nearly every week. This ward is mainly for oncolgy and haemotology.

I personally have kidney cancer and a blood condition MDS. I cannot have current treatment for these conditions as it would affect the other plus allergic to treatment offered forMDS I am therefore am having my blood maintained by this wonderful team which includes senior oncolgy ,haemotology nurse Livingstone and Dr Fyfe.who are also based in Hairmyres Hospital

The charge nurse in the day ward Alana leads the team in the ward. all staff are exceptionally caring and professional. They have a very warm and friendly manner which makes all patients feel at ease and secure. Although I have to be in so often the team actually make my days in the ward relaxing and pleasurable. They keep my spirits up with their warm sense of humour. All staff are so kind and also take time with my family and enquire about my day to day life. their names are GIllian staff nurse Amanda, Lynsey, Lisa, Kirsty and Lorna. Ann at reception is also most caring efficient and kind and has time for my family Hope i have not forgotten anyone They are all great. Oh there is also a therapist based in the ward Elaine Gilliland who offers reflexology reiki and kind words is also most caring and proffessional it would be great if this wonderful team could be commended.  I am devasted Lynsey is leaving this week to move to England but am sure her replacement Jane will fit in well with the team
