"Gate 40 and recovery department staff were amazing"

About: Pinderfields General Hospital

on Thursday 6th December 2018 I had to come in for day surgery. A member of staff took care of me while i was on ward 40 and did an excellent job of making me feel reassured, informed as to the process, calm and relaxed. She was very friendly and welcoming. She answered all my questions and made sure I had everything I needed. I was given choices and reminded of my rights as a patient. She was also very helpful to my husband when directing him to the ward to come and pick me up; You have no idea how valuable this is to him. Super job. While I was in the recovery I had a nurse looking after me. I can't say enough good things about the nurse; she not only made me feel safe and well cared for but she kept me up to date on what was happening with my care and made sure I knew who all the individual staff were even after they introduced themselves. I had to stay in recovery almost all day and the nurse was very reassuring about my condition and why things were happening. I also saw that the nurse was very supportive to all her colleagues throughout the day and made every effort to support everyone when they needed it. She was very professional at all times to both patients and staff and I can't remember the last time I had such great care. If I had to come in again I would like to be cared for by these two nurses. I work in the NHS myself and see lots of nursing professionals and can see the the nurse has the qualities it takes to be a lead nurse and keep moving up the chain. I wish her every luck in her career.

Thank you for taking the time to post your comments regarding your recent experience.

I can only imagine how daunting it must be for anyone to come into hospital and to have staff that provide you with the reassurance and information to alleviate any anxieties is great to read.

I will be sharing your feedback with the staff as they will be so pleased to know what a positive impact they had not only yourself but with your husband as well.

Thank you again and I hope you are recovering well.

Kind regards

Clare Blackburn
