I had a post menopausal bleed and immediately suspected uterine cancer.
I visited my GP at the Wards who was excellent and referred me to the gyn clinic for tests as she also suspected uterine cancer.
Cancer confirmed I was given a date for a laparoscopic hysterectomy and bi-lateral oophorectomy which I had in Oct 2018.
I want to say that the care, compassion and commitment of the nursing, medical, ancillary staff was second to none and I was out of hospital within two days with clear instructions about enhanced recovery.
My GP called me at home to check how I was which made me feel that I was a person and not a cancer statistic - I felt cared for.
I got a call from the specialist nurse to inform that the tumour had been removed and that the consultants were confident that they had got it all out.
I have just had my first assessment meeting and this was excellent with useful advice and was very person centred - it was clear that the staff members were well trained and knowledgeable about me and the cancer I had.
My treatment was provided by Ayrshire and Arran NHS and I want to commend the holistic approaches they adopted.
"Care given to me pre and post uterine cancer diagnosis"
