"Minor injury, major pain"

About: St Georges at Queen Mary's Hospital (London)

I went to the unit after injuring my finger which has been swollen and in pain for almost two weeks.

The GP explained I should go to the minor injury unit to get it looked at, dressed and attended to as well as X-rayed in case of fracture.

I explained this to the receptionist, who told me that I should go to the X-ray department.

I explicitly said I don't want to wait a week for my X-ray to be sent to the GP and why I am at the injury unit.

She assured me that the Radiologist will take a look and refer me to the minor injuries unit if needed.

I go to Radiology department and am X-rayed and speak with the technician - who tells me this isn't true and the Radiologists won't be able to look at the X-ray for some time and will send their report to the GP - i.e. exactly what the receptionist said wouldn't happen.

The technician advised me to go back to the minor injury unit.

I go back and the receptionist didn't want to check me in and said she has to see if the nurse "would be happy to see me".

I asked why that was the case and she said she didn't want to get in the middle of the GP's care - which is just silly because my GP referred me here in the first place!

Frustrating.
