"Lovely place but I'd hoped to see a surgeon"

The doctor led me to believe she had referred me to an orthopaedic surgeon. 4 weeks later, I had an X-ray and 6 weeks after that, met a lovely young man in the beautiful 'Enhanced Services' building who arranged to refer me to a surgeon... in 6 weeks' time, who might perhaps operate... in a minimum of 12 weeks' time. This is how the NHS reduce waiting lists, by diverting the flow away from the professionals. In the meantime, I can't walk, I can't sleep, I get fat, and become addicted to painkillers that will ruin my liver & kidneys.
