Unfortunately I was assaulted at 8:10am on Saturday morning, following an unprovoked attack by a van driver, the man struck me from behind and as I fell to the floor I was continually kicked in the back. My wife witnessed the whole event and as you can appreciate she was distraught and in shock. I thought you might need a little background before I get to the point of my email.
I can't thank the Nurse who assessed my condition enough, as the level of care I received was second to none, she was caring, compassionate, empathetic and very thorough in assessing my medical condition.
She arranged for my wounds to be dressed and X-Rays to be taken and only discharged me when she felt I was fit to leave. She also found the time on what was a very busy Saturday morning to check on how my wife was feeling.
After a very uncomfortable and painful weekend, I called to ask further advice and amazingly the same Nurse answered the phone at minor injuries in Stratford upon Avon. I explained the level of discomfort I was in, she said I should come straight in to the unit. She examined me again and could see I was in considerable discomfort, and again being thorough she sent me for X-rays this time on my back.
The X-rays revealed a T11 buckle fracture of my vertebrae, which was confirmed by the Consultant Radiologist. I can't thank the Nurse enough, as being a victim of a brutal attack is painful but also distressing, I felt she was caring not only for my physical condition but also for my mental wellbeing, she made me feel I was important.
I commend you for recruiting such a high quality team of professionals at Warwick hospital, I am extremely grateful to South Warwickshire NHS for the treatment I received.
Kind Regards
Michael White
