I visited the X-Ray department on Tuesday 11th December to have a chest X-Ray redone after the results were inconclusive.
The lady on the desk - I didn’t get her name - was very welcoming and friendly. I think she could tell I was feeling anxious (having come straight from my GP).
The real star was a radiographer. I asked a few questions about the type of X-Ray I was having and how I could best make the most of it, to remove the chance of motion artifact that previously voided my images.
She was extremely patient with me and answered all my questions. The radiographer also referred my concern to a senior radiographer to offer another opinion. She then took every care to make sure this X-Ray was carried out accurately, even offering me her scrunchie to keep my hair out of the way. I’d previously taken the process for granted, but having some unreliable imaging before, I appreciated everything she did.
I felt very reassured and having left my GP in a fraught state from discussing a serious medical issue, I then left the hospital feeling much more at ease.
The radiographer provided great care and I was glad that she was my radiographer this visit to NMGH.
I do think it was a shame that there was no option to give feedback while I was in the actual hospital. I hope this gets back to her.
