Dear Steve,

I apologise that you had difficulty parking, we have an extremely busy hospital site which accommodates not only outpatient visitors but patients using the Emergency Unit also. We do advise patients to allow extra time at peak times, but are also flexible and recognise that this can be challenging. We do recognise that signposting can be confusing; we include a site map on all appointment letters and there is signage and guidance from the main entrance. We have also recruited some new volunteers to assist visitors with directions and navigation, and all staff are expected to assist patients and visitors in getting to the correct department.

Please accept my apologies for the delay you experienced. Clinics can be delayed for a variety of reasons, some due to the late arrival of patients due to the issues you have indicated, others due to emergency activity and consultations taking longer than expected. We aim to keep patients informed of delays and I am sorry that this didn’t happen.

I am very sorry that you have had such a chaotic experience and have not yet seen a consultant.

This is not the experience we normally offer, and we have let you down. Please contact our Patient Advice & Liaison service team (PALs) on 020 8887 3172 or email : northmid.pals@nhs.net and they will try to resolve an appointment for you.

orthopedics, Anesthetics and Pain Management Service Manager
