"Fantastic staff in your Cardiology department"

About: Hammersmith Hospital

I had ablation done on my heart on the 6/12/18.

I was admitted at 11 am and my procedure ended up being done at around 4:30pm.

They apologised that it was so late, but as with anything surgical, delays do happen.

One of the procedures in the morning took much longer, which is why there was a delay.

They always kept me updated and communication was excellent.

All the nurses I dealt with were truly lovely and friendly, they went out of there way to be so helpful and keep you comfortable.

Have to admit I was very scared.

Having something done to your heart of course is scary.

When I went in for the procedure I explained my fear.

Again I was met with empathy and understanding and they helped me feel at ease.

They even had me laughing!

I was awake for the ablation.

The injection to groin did sting a little, but was over in a second.

I honestly didn't feel them doing anything else and actually had to ask how long would it take for them to get to my heart.

The response was, they were all ready there and had started mapping my heart.

When it was time to do the ablation/burning of the tissue in my heart, I did feel a warming sensation in my chest.

But they made it clear that the moment it was too much I should say and they would immediately stop.

Which they did do every time.

Again the communication was very good and it made you feel very safe.

I really wanted to go home the same day, as I felt completely fine and in no pain, but they insisted I stay in over night.

They were right though.

As the entry site decided it would keep bleeding.

The nurse on ward again was very attentive and patient and eventually got the bleeding to stop and finally I got to go home.

Can I just say a massive thank you to everyone!

You are all truly amazing people and I felt in very safe hands.
