I found a breast lump in late October, I attended my GP two weeks , with a breast that is
in the lower quadrant. My GP, did an examination and said it feels like a Fibroadenoma, but I will refer you to the breast clinic. I am in my early forties. GP asked if their was a history of Breast Cancer in my family, and yes, my grandmother died of this. My two great Aunties had ovarian cancer.
During my GP appointment I became quite upset and she agreed to do a two week urgent referral. To cut a long story short, despite the urgent referral, I was advised by the referrals manager at Stobhill Hospital, Glasgow, that a nurse had screened my letter and the earliest I could be seen was mid December.
I cannot believe that I have been made to wait so long! The lump is still there, as is the worry and anxiety over the past few weeks.
I understood that my urgent referral meant I would be seen with in the two weeks.
