"Double Jaw Surgery pre op and aftercare"

About: John Radcliffe Hospital / Maxillo-Facial surgery

(as the patient),

I had double jaw surgery 18 days ago. Honestly I could not fault the surgeons or the anaesthetists, the pre-op care I received was amazing, on the specialist surgery ward was a different story..

I ordered food never turned up I was exepected to not eat all day because dinner was done and they didn’t bring mine so I just had to deal with a yogurt, the day after I asked for gravy and mash (due to surgery I could only eat certain things) they came back with Shepard’s pie.. I couldn’t eat this and when I told them they came back with a yogurt again I was so hungry but they said there was nothing they could do (again) on discharge they came back with tablets I told them I couldn’t take them as I can’t open my mouth and my throat was very sore, they took no notice and still sent me home with a set of tablets, every bit of advice I asked they was clueless (but I was too so we wasn’t getting anywhere) on discharge I was told I should see a dietitian, again o asked and they said they couldn’t do this the doctor would need to. I had no clue what I could eat I was sent home knowing nothing.

I wasn’t happy with my aftercare treatment at all, but again I couldn’t fault my pre-op care at John Radcliffe.
