"Sitting all day and night waiting for a service"

About: University Hospital Ayr / Accident & Emergency

(as a service user),

My wife was brought into ayr a&e at 14:00 only to be placed in a room for three hours before anyone came near to take bloods, only to be lost and then taken again 2 hours later. Then told at 19:00 that the surgeon will be round to examine her shortly, half past 11 and still no sign of the surgeon.

After asking the nurses on the desk we were told that they didn't have any idea when the surgeon would be round and no way of contacting them which I find hard to believe. 

Now I wouldn't be writing this if we hadn't found ourselves in this exact same position just month previously. 

I fully understand that staff are busy but to be sitting all day and night waiting for a service is totally ridiculous.

Thank you for your feedback on the Care Opinion site.

I am so sorry that you had an extremely poor experience within the ED at Ayr Hospital. It is clearly unacceptable to be left waiting without any information and to have blood's repeated due to the first sample going missing.
