Unable to plan appointments for non emergency visits around my own diary based work schedule. Although I appreciate that in some cases and for some people this on the day booking process may be convenient but with a diary working system myself with 30 minute - 1 hour appointments I am finding this system really difficult to manage. I am also responsible for a child and have found that this system for non emergency appointments is also very difficult to arrange for both myself and him to attend together. With absences from school not ideal I have found that I need to take off time from work and keep him off school to wait and speak to the doctor to give me an appointment for later in the day or let me know that it is not necessary to visit the doctor but to prescribe or treat over the phone.

Is it just me or does anybody else find this frustrating !

Thank you for your comment, if you look on our website there are some useful Q&A regarding the appointments system www.thegreyroadsurgery.co.uk; with regards to wanting a particular day for an appointment you just need to call the surgery on your chosen day, so if you know you are free on a Wednesday call that day and the GP will book you an appointment, if you can only come to the practice on a Friday call on a Friday, a lot of health problems can also be dealt with over the phone which the majority of our patients find very convenient.

Liverpool GPs now offer pre-bookable appointments of an evening or weekend, this is services is called Extended access service and started in November 18, you wouldn't see a GP from our surgery but it would be a GP who works within primary care in Liverpool, to book an appointment please call the practice, thank you.
