"A great first physio appointment"

About: Specialist services / Musculoskeletal and rehabilitation service

(as the patient),

I finally had my first appointment with a physiotherapist at Chapel Allerton Hospital today, following a six month wait from my MRI scan (way too long and in which I ended up paying for loads of treatment myself) and it was such a relief.

The physio was just great. He printed off my scan results and went through each section of it explaining all the terminology and drawing me diagrams to help me understand. He even gave me some advice about what to google if I wanted to search for information myself and got some pictures up on a google search for me to check out while I was there. He was very clear and professional. Just what I needed.

It would be fantastic if advice about what/how to search for information online to help patient's take control and self manage could become the norm for everyone in the future and it's important that staff have the right tools available to them to do it.

Thank you for sharing your experience on Patient Opinion. I was pleased to hear that you had such a positive experience, and that the physiotherapist was so professional, helpful and supportive during your appointment.

I will make sure that I pass your compliments on to the patient experience manager at the hospital.

Dear Betty B

Thank-you so much for the positive feedback posted on the Patient Opinion website. It is really important that our staff get to hear when they have made a real difference to their patients as well as how we can improve our services.

On reading your post it appears that the Physiotherapist responsible for your care was able to help you in several ways and your experience of treatment at Chapel Allerton has left you feeling supported and very much involved in decisions about your care. I will make sure that the team in Chapel Allerton are aware of your post and your ideas about helping patients to take control and self manage can be discussed at a future staff meetings.

Kind Regards

Sharon Ombler-Spain

Patient Experience, Involvement and Engagement Manager.
