I took my son to Minor Injuries after he fell at school and had a suspected fractured clavicle. After a 2. 5 hour wait to be seen, we were in the room for less than 5 minutes to which the nurse agreed it was most likely fractured. Therefore we had to travel to Raigmore despite X-ray being available in Nairn that day. We were told to go to the Highland Children’s Unit to be seen by orthopaedics. On our arrival ortho nor the ward staff were aware of my son coming. They then contacted A& E who similarly had not been notified. We were then advised to go round to start the process again in A& E, thankfully this process was very smooth and quick and the staff at Raigmore A& E were excellent and went above and beyond for my 5 year old. The children’s ward staff were also very accommodating and lovely to deal with also, providing snacks and entertainment for my son. It’s a shame The communication from Nairn couldn’t have been better and saved my son walking all over Raigmore and having an unnecessary wait whilst in pain.
