"Painful swollen knee"

About: Tameside General Hospital / Accident and emergency

(as the patient),

I have a very painful swollen knee so i went to a&e and i was told i need a splint to keep my knee in place but they did not have the equipment to do that they bandaged it up and sent me home with no pain killers or anything to help reduce the swelling.

I am very annoyed by this and will go to get a second opinion, not from tamside hospital.

I am very sorry to read this. It does seem unusual to send a patient home without the treatment they need. If you could make contact with me I would be happy to look into your case further.

I do hope your knee is now less painful.

Best wishes

Philip Dylak

Would you like to help the hospital to improve its services further? We are currently looking for patients and carers to become involved in a development called “Patient Stories”. We want to know more about our services from the point of view of those who received them – what was good, bad, what could be improved, what should be changed. Want to know more about what’s involved?

Please contact Philip Dylak, Director of Nursing at philip.dylak@tgh.nhs.uk
