Being told you have cancer of the tongue and will need a major operation is a traumatic experience, but I cannot speak too highly of Mr A McLennan and his team for all the support and confidence they gave my wife both before the operation and during her stay on ICU and then Otter Ward.
Meeting the team who would look after her before admission and being given honest accurate information reviewing what would happen was very beneficial. The care my wife was given whilst as a patient was absolutely superb, both on ICU and Otter Ward, The whole staff - from auxiliaries to the ward sisters - could not have been kinder and again the whole team had an air of confidence and professionalism which in turn gave my wife confidence. This just does no happen without leadership and example from the top, and I suspect that example comes from the way Mr McLennan treats all his staff and patients.
I am very grateful for the time and patience he showed in keeping my wife and I informed throughout.
"Very grateful to Mr McLennan and his team at Royal Devon and Exeter"
