"GP appointment - Preston Park Surgery-comments..."

About: Preston Park Surgery

I have been, together with my family, for some years, a patient at this surgery for almost 50 years.

In the last few years my visits to one particular doctor or other GPs have been at least 9 months apart except for phlebotomy and annual diabetic practice nurse. appointments.

PREMISES:

The transparent remodelling of the office behind the reception desk was an extremely god idea which sends a good message of openness.

Within the last couple of years a small surgical procedure in the practice to check a mole was very professionally and painlessly executed.

I hope these comments are helpful and will be an encouragement to extremely nice and hardworking people.

I would be glad to learn that this report has reached you safely.

Regards to the Practice.

Barry

DECORATION:

Carpets - cleanliness and good quality chairs give a good environment.

BOOKING IN SCREEN:

Works well and clearly saves Reception time.

BLOOD PRESSURE MACHINE VISIBILITY:

Very good idea.

RECEPTIONISTS:

Without any exception over many years these have been of the very highest quality - always courteous with mastery of booking systems, and on rare occasions demonstrate a quick-witted ability to sort out problems arising.

On 2 occasions in the last 3 years, whilst not involved, I saw a receptionist coping extremely professionally with :

An unbelievably rude and unreasonable person

A disadvantaged, confused and irrational lady

Although an infrequent visitor I have always gained an appointment within 7 working days.

PRACTICE MANAGEMENT

The written prescriptions have sensible reminders about the importance of flu jabs.

A transmission of my written requests to KAMSONS have gone admirably over the last 6/7 years.

NURSNG STAFF

One particular nurse has given me practical diabetic help though the last 2.3 years and, following whose advice I have recently come off all diabetic meds including insulin.

Throughout many years I have come to know several, other nurses and it must be a credit to the practice management that they continue to serve your patients,

GPs

Although as mentioned my visits have been infrequent, my designated doctor has been available on all but one occasion over several years..

The arrangements for flu injections were excellent over several years, the visits usually taking no more than 10 minutes.

Seven or eight years ago - as I did not appreciate the seriousness symptoms,

I neglected action, Thankfully my doctor noticed this failure ,and wrote to me to stress importance of a follow up.

When I did so a malignancy was discovered and subsequently very successfully dealt with (now clear for, I think, 8 years). Example of very good GP textbook practice.
