I was referred to the out of hours urgent care by NHS 111.
I was told I would be contacted by a Doctor. At no point was I able to speak to a doctor because there ARE NO DOCTORS at Rugby Urgent Care Centre (This was a Sunday evening). Even the Nurse Practitioner I eventually spoke to said I needed to attend quickly as they were about to go home!
I tried to explain that my daughter was too ill for me to bring her in (she had severe abdominal pain and vomiting) and I needed the advice of a doctor to determine if I should call an ambulance. I was advised to give her paracetamol! All I got was the insistence to bring her in or to drive her to either Nuneaton or Coventry Walsgrave (40 minutes away) myself if I wished to see a doctor.
How can Rugby have 'Urgent Care' with apparently no access to a doctor? I would advise people who need urgent care not to waste their time and just dial 999.
