"Visit today to Accident and Emergency Carlisle"

About: North Cumbria University Hospitals NHS Trust

I visited the A and E department this morning with an open shin wound, having been advised by my doctor to do so, and have only praise for the service received.

I was seen within a short period of time and checked by a most supportive and friendly doctor, I think, who explained what would happen. A nurse then cleaned the wound and applied a number of butterfly stitches, reassuring me all the time and advising me on the care I must take and followup treatment..I was asked also if my tetanus cover was up to date.

Often media portray the hospital in a negative light, but the care i received was first class, as it was on two previous visits over the last few years. Thank you.

Dear Janice

I am very sorry that you had to attend A&E with an open wound but thank you for taking the time to leave this positive comment on NHS Choices about the A&E department here at the Cumberland Infirmary.

I am very glad to hear that you were seen relatively quickly and that you found the staff supportive and friendly. I think we all appreciate reassurance when we need help and treatment.

A&E staff work within a busy environment but they always ensure that patients feel comfortable and feel at ease.

Thank you for giving us the option to share some positive news about the hospital.

I am sure the team will be pleased to hear that you felt their care was first class.

I do hope you are feeling much better.

With our best regards,

Alison S-D
