What I liked
Ward 17 was fantastic. everything was just about perfect.
What could be improved
By comparison Ward 18 was dreadful. Uncaring staff, filthy toilets ( so bad on three occasions as to be unusable), lights left on until midnight so you could not sleep, ward staff larking about, a consultant who thought it beneath him to speak to patients, and poor treatment. Sister never came on the ward during an eight day stay except when I demanded to see her having been told I could not have a pillow!
Once I was discharged an in the care of my GP I made an immediate improvement.
It was clear that as I was 79 I was just a silly old fool to be ignored.
Disgraceful.
"If you are ill, don't let them put you in Ward 18."
