"Ward 9 Maternity service"

About: Milton Keynes Hospital / Maternity care

This is with regards to my Maternity service which had started around end of Jan 2018 for one to one counseling with Doctor because of my previous miscarriage. All went well in relation to counseling and ultrasound . I was very much satisfied with the service from doctor, midwifes and hospital. In mid of may , Doctor found something uncommon and advised to admit immediately for observation at ward 9 and doctor said to me that all the information have been shared to Ward 9 staff .

I went to ward 9 and explain my situation what Doctor had advised to me but unfortunately midwife didn't have any information and had to wait there for more then 30mins which was bit uncomfortable to me as my husband went to house to bring all the necessary stuffs for me . Later on midwife said due to shift handover, the information were not dealt as per the process. Finally a bed was allocated to me and the observations started and was felt bit relax on that day. After three days i was moved to a single bed room and was very much thankful as there was enough space to accommodate my husband during night .

Physical Discomfort,Awkward, unease and nervous situation during observation.

1) Midwife - She came to hear my baby heart bit but for some reason she couldn't hear the sound and the graph paper was not populating the data expected .To resolve this, she asked me to stand on the floor for more than 10mins and then asked me to go to bed but still she could not hear the baby's heart bit . Again she move the bed up and down continuously for 5 to 10 min, move my body left and right , pressing my tummy very hard. . I did request to press easy as this is painful but she does not listen and keep harnessing me until she hear the sound and set the graph properly . This was horrendous feeling that evening and i couldn't sleep till midnight till the next midwife came and set the same thing in a professional way without hurting anything Nexy day i did complain to the team lead about the complete incident.

2)Midwife : Again she came the day before of my c-section but as soon as she saw me, she sent a graduate midwife for routine observation. My husband was with me fortunately on that evening . Graduate/trainee midwife was struggling to hear the baby's heart bit and move my bed up and down for around 10mins. She failed to set up the things correctly and informed her immediate senior mid wife . The midwife came to my room and started moving my bed up and down again . My husband immediately protest and she started to explain that she cannot bend myself to set up the things to hear the baby heart bit and this is the way she work. However my husband went to midwifes reception desk of ward 9 and complain about the situation . After 1+ hours , the midwife again came to my room and talking to me and my husband continuously for 5-7 mins on the complain . My husband decided not to confront again as the next day was my operation day. Again terrifying night on that day.
