Referred to A&E from urgent care in Sidcup as my daughter had severe stomach pains and they suspected a burst ovarian cyst.
Reception staff were dismissive. I assumed given the possible severity of her condition we would be seen quickly for triage. This wasnt the case. Waited an hour and then called in. Door was left open which made my daughter uncomfortable. Staff read the referral from urgent care and couldnt frankly have cared less. Especially as it was obvious she was in severe pain. Was told they would give her pain relief. 45 mins later i had to chase this with the stroppy triage nurse who huffed about having to stop chatting to her colleagues and get up to actually provide some care to someone.
We then had to wait for bloods and urine. Another hour wait. Cut a long story short the nursing assistant had called my daughter earlier but had totally mis said her first and last name. What a shambles.
Finally she was taken to urgent reception C area and stuck on a recliner. I had to leave for a bit but she was seen by gnye . They refused to do a scan and discharged her after her drip had finished. She was told to come back if the pain got worse. She was given a diagnosis but how anyone can be sure of that without proper investigations i dont know.
So all in all i found staff VERY dismissive. Perhaps they saw my daughter as a fussy young woman. But she does also suffer from severe MH and found the whole experience distressing. Even when crying with pain not one single staff member showed any empathy whatsoever. Needless to say i will be taking it further.
"Very poor service at A&E"
