"My Papa."

About: University Hospital Wishaw / Emergency Department University Hospital Wishaw / General Medicine (Wards 5 & 8) University Hospital Wishaw / Stroke Unit (Ward 11)

(as a relative),

My papa was admitted to Wishaw General in September 2018. He was an emergency admission to the ED department following what appeared to be a stroke. He was quickly taken through by SAS and assessed. After assessment and diagnostic tests we were told he was being admitted. Karen was the nurse who was looking after him and she fully updated me and my mum & supported us. We were then admitted the the Emergency Care Ward where we were greeted by Staff Nurse David who informed us that he and another nurse would settle our relative and he would get us into the room shortly.  David, once he had settled my papa took the time to listen and understand what my papas day to day life had been.

My papa was then transferred to ward 11 where he spent 8 weeks being assessed and looked after.  It was during this time that I felt he was looked after & given the best rehab possible.  He has now been transferred to the strathclyde suite & his care will continue there.

Every step of my papas journey was made that little easier due to the care he received.  So on behalf of my family and I thank you, as a nurse myself I know how much it means to make that bit of a difference.

Dear Athankfulrelative,

I would like to thank you on behalf of the staff for taking time to post such a lovely response.

We strive at all time to deliver high quality care and it is excellent to know right from SAS, ED, ECU and ward 11 that all staff assisted you in what was a difficult time easier with the care they provided.

I will ensure your post is shared with all of the above teams.

I hope your papa continues to rehab well and gets back home soon.

Regards

Janice
