"Outstanding"

About: West Cumberland Hospital / Gynaecology

I was admitted for hysterectomy surgery on 6 th November 2018 following a nine month wait to have the procedure at Carlisle.

I have never accounted such amazing care and professionalism from the moment I entered the hospital.

Both The surgeon and anaesthetist spent so much time with me explaining exactly what would happen and answering any concerns I had. I have never encountered having this amount of time spent with me prior to surgery . The nurses were extremely professional and caring .

The theatres looked amazing and the care given once in the theatre was incredible.

The care and attention I received on transfer to Ward 1 was incredible. Nothing was too much trouble and I was constantly checked throughout the night and given medication to help make me more comfortable due to nausea and low oxygen sats.

The hospital was immaculately clean .

I would just like to thank all the staff for providing the most compassionate ,professional care I have ever experienced.

Firstly can I say how sorry I am that your wait for surgery was lengthy, I can understand that this must have been an anxious time and very frustrating for you. I am pleased that you were offered a date at West Cumberland Hospital.

Thank you for taking the time to give our staff this lovely feedback. It really does man a great deal to us to hear that your experience of our surgery department and Ward 1 was a positive one.

All of our staff work really hard to provide this level of care and they will be delighted with your comments

Your comments demonstrate the whole team approach to care where everyone has a part to play.

I will ensure that you review will be shared with the teams who were on duty on 6th November 2018.

I do hope that you are continuing to recover well at home.

Take care

Best regards,

Alison S-D
