What I liked
Nothing
What could be improved
General service and waiting times, just putting someone in a room does not mean that they are being seen to.
Anything else?
It was around midnight and I was in severe pain, I was told by NHS direct to head to King's Mill A&E with suspected appendicitis. The waiting area was completely empty and the hospital sounded quiet. I could barely walk and was made to stand at the reception desk for 5 minutes while the receptionist and a nurse finished their discussion about a TV program. After 30 mins I was moved into a small cold room with a bed and left for an hour, my partner had to go and find someone to find out when I would be seen. They handed me a cup for a urine sample but then took 2 hours to collect it, again my partner had to go get someone. I was then left for another 3 hours in pain all the time, no one came to check on me in the end my partner went to get some answers, they gave me some antibiotics and sent me away with very little explanation of what was wrong with me other than it was not appendicitis.
Two days later I was getting worse not better so I went to my doctor with the medication they gave me, they told me that the stuff they had given me wasn't strong enough to fight the infection in the first place and they were surprised I wasn't back in hospital. She gave me stronger stuff and it sorted me out.
I never want to go there again.
"A long painful wait"
