"Depression"

About: Inclusion Thurrock (Talking Therapies)

(as the patient),

I have suffered from depression for about 18 years and recently had a relapse. I have been on antidepressants for about 5 years but I found myself at the lowest I had ever been. I had extremely bad thoughts and even thought would it matter if I wasn’t here. I had a telephone assessment and was referred to have CBT. I had 9 sessions and can not thank my counsellor enough. She helped me in more ways than she will ever know.

Dear Starlady11

I'm glad that you are out of that dark place and found your hope again. Maybe even got back in touch with youself again?

You mentioned that counseling helped in many ways, well I hope some of that is in giving you some extra tools to cope with the ups and down's of life ( because we ALL have those don't we!?). Once we are better able to recognize this, then we can stay more realistic and balance out any bad days with the knowledge and experience of the good ones.....Does that make sense?

I wonder if you have been given information about our recovery college before? This is a place where people can come along to a range of informal courses and start to feel part of a wider circle of people who are learning how to stay well and use some of those tools they gained in counseling.

Here's a link, check it out;

From all the team here at Inclusion Thurrock a big thank you for sharing your story and we wish you all the very best for the future. ( Have a brilliant 2019 too!!).

Many thanks

Paul
