A few months ago my suspicions were confirmed that my husband was abusing alcohol.   I strongly advised that he get help and support, and also sought this for myself in the form of the Aylesbury Family Service at One Recovery Bucks. On meeting Helen,   my support worker, I was immediately put at ease and felt in safe hands.   She is guiding me through this tricky and somewhat isolating time and my confidence is already growing.   After a few weeks she advised that I try the Family Group; here I am supported by others who understand my frustrations and worries as they too are experiencing similar difficulties. The group is run by Helen who has a programme of educational subjects that we explore as a group, as well as providing a safe, welcoming and confidential space to be ourselves, sharing the events of our lives.

Dear Brigitte,

Thank you so much for taking the time to give us your feedback regarding your experience of accessing our family service. It is great to hear how you have been made to feel at ease and safe seeing Helen both individually and in the group. It is fantastic for me as Service Manager to hear the feedback from a group member, as it is a relatively new group. Our key aims for the group are to provide support and help people who are impacted by someone else's use, to build resilience in a safe space and its sound like this is working for you with your increasing confidence.


Helen is an amazing member of our team and I will ensure she hears your valuable feedback. I am sure it will make her smile.

Keeping accessing the support you need and I truly hope your husband has started down his own personal road to recovery.
