I received excellent care at the ophthalmology department and would like to thank the doctor who treated me. The treatment was explained fully and my well being was her main concern throughout the procedure.
I would however like to feedback that the information leaflet for the procedure states "it causes very little discomfort". I experienced a severe stinging sensation rather like a reaction to very strong onions shortly after the treatment. This became worse and I was in severe discomfort for approx 6 hours after the procedure, despite analgesia. It did ease after this time, but was uncomfortable still.
It would be helpful for the leaflet to be amended to say that there may be some discomfort as it is less worrying if you know to expect this. Advice could then be given regarding analgesia and other management strategies. The leaflet does suggest having someone with you as you will not be able to drive. I was prepared for blurred vision and light sensitivity but not the pain and therefore took the train home. This was a mistake.
Thank you once again for the excellent care.
