"Hairmyres Car-park"

About: University Hospital Hairmyres

(as the patient),

i have a simple question how is anyone supposed to safely park at Hairmyres hospital  and why has nothing been done about it

I spent 30 minutes - yes 30 minutes looking for a parking space and eventually had to park at lidl car park and walk to the hospital not only was there no where near enough spaces people were parked illegally on pavements parking at the end of the parking bays blocking the roads cars parked on grass verges.
this has been a issue for the longest time and we keep hearing that the hospital is doing all it can well clearly you are not!
your so called media campaign failed the stickers on cars failed clearly your measures are not suitable and laughable.

its not the difficult to fix, either put in check points or build more parking if Asda can build a 2 level car park then so can the hospital.

i am sick to the back teeth of fighting with the car park.

how are patients supposed to make appointments on time when they have to resort to parking away from the hospital and WALK

the hospital should be ashamed at there management of the car park situation as there has been none!

I can only apologise for the frustration and anxiety you and others may have experienced when trying to park at the hospital. I’m sorry I’m not able to offer any guarantees that the parking situation will be improved in the short term.

Please be assured that this is a pressing issue that we are doing our best to address but we are limited with regards to the “enforcement” action we can take as the hospital roads and car parks are not part of the public highway therefore we are currently unable to fine or clamp vehicles.

We have been identifying and targeting people who use the hospital car park for accessing the Hairmyres train station.

We are currently developing a car parking management strategy across NHSL. The timeline for this to be in place is by April 2019.
