"Abdominal aortic aneurysm open repair"

About: Wythenshawe Hospital / Vascular surgery

I have recently had an abdominal aortic aneurysm open repair.

Although I was very nervous, I was treated at all times with care and consideration. My wife was kept informed throughout the operation and subsequent recovery. The surgeons, anaesthetists, nurses, admin staff, and the cleaners were pleasant and made my stay bearable.I would like to thankWardA2 for allowing my wife to visit early on the morning of my operation which helped me a lot. I would like to thank the staff of ICU for their great care and respect and Ward A1 for my subsequent recovery and discharge. I had not anticipated that I would be home after little more than a week. I continue to recover at home. Without the knowledge and dedication of the surgeon and the other members of the vascular team, I may have had a completely different outcome.

Thank you for providing your positive feedback onto the NHS website regarding your care and treatment on ICU and in Wards A1 and A2, following your recent surgery at Wythenshawe Hospital. It was very kind of you to take the time to write and compliment the staff as it is good to receive positive feedback which reflects the hard work and dedication of our staff members. It's also very pleasing to hear that you felt you were treated with care, consideration and respect at all times by all members of the teams involved in your treatment and recovery. We also note that your wife was kept informed throughout and the early morning visit prior to your surgery reassured both of you. We can assure you that you feedback will be shared with the relevant Heads of Nursing so that your positive feedback can be distributed to the wider team involved in your care and we wish you well with your continued recovery.
