"Emergency Room visit"

About: Queen Elizabeth Hospital / General medicine

My brother was taken to the QEH by ambulance a couple of days ago with extreme pain in his side and stomach due to his recent diagnosis of Crohn's. He was given pains killers that didn't even take the pain away and had tests done, they found a lump on his bowel. He could overhear the doctors and the nurses talking about what it could be but they came back and told him that is was nothing. He was sent home the next day still in pain only to be sent back to the er by ambulance yet again 24 hrs after he was released for the same problem.

The second time was even worse of an experience for him, the doctor was rude and took one look at him and basically told him that he couldn't help him even though he told him to come back in if he needed to. I myself called the er and was told basically that he was faking it even though he is doubled over in pain and crying for help. The other thing i didn't like was he was label as a drug addict by some of the nurses even though he's been clean for years. I know the staff are over worked but when my brother has to take his own needles out because no on staff came back to do it I find that appalling.

My brother is still in pain and refusing to go back to the hospital and I honestly dont blame him. I'm completely shocked by how they treated him and would like to see something done as for my brother he wont be coming back anytime soon. He felt like he didn't matter and that he wasnt being taken seriously. Plus to top it off he was given a medicine that almost gave him a heart attack the last time even though it was in his chart.
