"Care & Speed of diagnosis"

About: Broadmead Surgery

On Wednesday 17th October I went to the surgery for a flu jab after the jab my nurse took my pulse, she wasn't happy because it was hard to find, pulsing under 30. Asking me to wait 5mins, she then gave me an ECG. Upon seeing the results from this, she asked the doctor to see me, which he did 10mins later. He then told me he hadn't seen a pulse that low in his 10 years as a GP and believed the diagnostic to be heart failure, a blockage.

Writing a letter & trying to phone he told mehh to go straight to Ealing Hospital. On arriving at A&E I handed over my letter and within 30mins taken through put into bed & regularly monitored. Later that evening a bed was found for me in the High Dependency Cardiac Ward on a machine. For 2 days they gave me diuretics and measured my urine as my legs were swollen, after they had sorted that, the hospital took me on Monday to have a Pacemaker fitted having confirmed a heart blockage.

I can't praise both Broadmead Surgery and Ealing Hospital enough for the speedy diagnosis and fantastic treatment and care received from the nurse and doctor at this surgery and the nursing staff, doctors and consultants at the hospital. I am also pleased at the speed of the follow-up appointments.

Thank you for taking the time to share your experiences of the care and support provided by Broadmead Surgery during your recent visit.

The nursing and GP team are passionate about the care, treatment and support they provide to patients and their families/carers.

I’m sorry to see that you had become quite unwell and required an urgent referral to A&E at Ealing Hospital.

However I am pleased to hear that the care and treatment provided by the both the surgery and Ealing Hospital was to a high standard and thankfully, following a brief stay in hospital, you were well enough to return home to recuperate.

Once again, I thank you for providing this feedback which will be shared with the surgery team and is also available for other patients to read.

All patients feedback is very much welcomed and used to help us monitor the services we provide and make any improvements necessary.

If you would like to discuss this further please do not hesitate to contact me.

With thanks.
