As a visitor to the area I'm not registered with a GP. For almost a week I had suffered from acute deafness in one ear and self medication was not helping. After surfing the internet I was given the impression that the minor injuries unit in Stratford would be able to help me out so I arrived there around 3pm on Wed 14th November to an empty area. Not one of the 3 members of staff rose from their individual chairs and after explaining my predicament I was told straight away "we do not syringe!". I asked if someone could take a look to ensure that my debility was due to wax in my ear and nothing more sinister such as an infection. Blank looks all around!! The best advice given was to carry on with the self medicating drops or try the out of hours surgery around the corner (although told there was not much chance of getting an appointment). Failing that I was told to ring 111 and the "overworked" staff then continued with their private conversation. So pleased to have contributed to the NHS for over 35 years in order to to receive such wonderful service. The professional receptionist at the Trinity Centre was able to get me an appointment with a GP (although I still have to return home to South Yorkshire in order to get things sorted out).
Overall it was not a pleasant experience. If there is a next time I will probably try and go private.
"Appalling lack of care!"
