"Usually very good, but car parking prices..."

About: Liverpool Womens Hospital

(as a service user),

Usually very good, but I do think that the car parking prices are extortionate- after all people only visit hospitals because they are unwell or visiting someone unwell. Other than that NHS is fantastic long may it continue

Thank you for taking the time to provide feedback about your stay at Liverpool Women’s, particularly in relation to car parking charges.

We understand that not everyone agrees with charging for hospital car parking and we acknowledge that many of our patients and visitors will not be pleased with having to pay them. However, like many parts of the NHS, Liverpool Women’s is experiencing significant financial pressures. By applying car parking charges we are able to maintain the upkeep of the car parks, including providing security measures and any surplus is invested into the continuing maintenance of the overall estate, rather than reducing investment in other patient services.

Earlier this year we increased the free parking time from 20 to 30 minutes and we continue to provide concessions for a number of patient and carer groups, we also provide free car parking for disabled patients and visitors. Also, in some circumstances parking is free for patients/visitors throughout their stay, these include parents with babies on the Neonatal unit, Oncology patients returning for regular clinic visits and families of patients at end of life.

Parking charges at Liverpool Women’s are comparative with other NHS Trusts in the region that are based close to busy city centres.
