"Mother's death at Ayr Hospital."

About: Biggart Hospital / Care of the Elderly Medicine University Hospital Ayr / Endoscopy University Hospital Ayr / Gastroenterology

(as a relative),

My mother died at Ayr Hospital a few months ago. I was stunned to see the primary cause listed as a urinary tract infection. How is it possible to die from such a thing in this day and age? We weren't even told she had a UTI, just like the many other things we feel we weren't told.

Dear MC27

Firstly please accept my condolences on the death of your mother. This must be a difficult time for you, especially when you have questions regarding the primary cause of your mothers death.

It is evident in your post that you have some outstanding questions and I would like to assist you, should this be the case? If it would help, I would like to discuss your story directly with you so that I can talk through what happened to enable me to discuss with the medical team.

I can be contacted through my PA, Ms Tracy Scott on: Tel: 01292 617126 or alternatively e-mail: tracy.scott@aapct.scot.nhs.uk

I look forward to hearing from you.

Kind regards

John

I am so sorry to hear about the sad loss of your mother. It is clear this has been an especially difficult time made worse by having unanswered questions. I see that you mentioned your mother was in Biggart Hospital, if you had any concerns about your mothers care while in Biggart I would be happy to meet to discuss.

If you wish to discuss any concerns please contact me on 01292 665656

Thank you both for your replies. John, I will be in touch. Lorraine, we had no issues with the Biggart. We met many truly caring nurses there and there was almost always a doctor around to answer any questions we had.
