"There's My Chance"

About: Locked & Specialist Rehab / Spencer South

(as a staff member posting for a patient/service user),

I came here December last year and since I've been here it's been rocky.

I was settled in my last placement and then I came here and became poorly again. Thanks to my Doctor and my MDT team I got the right medication which has helped me improve and I have now gone over 4 months with no self-harm.

The staff are easy to talk to and they are amazing. Sometimes they are busy but if you really need them then they are there.

Thanks to therapy, DBT, structure and boundaries on the ward I am on status 4. I have unescorted leave and I am looking to go to a locked rehab ward after Christmas. Then, when I am discharged, I am going to study paediatric nursing.

It's very positive to hear your story and I am delighted to hear your progress and how you feel the DBT Programme has supported you in your recovery. It's refreshing to hear you are moving onto locked rehab and I'm sure this has taken lots of hard work on your part.

I wish you well in your continued recovery and remember this is your recovery and the credit lays with you, if you were not motivated to put the hard work in you would not be in the position now so well done!
