"Repeat prescription nightmare"

About: Thornton Surgery

Trying to get a prescription for my 79 year old elderly mother is, it appears an impossible task. A lady who has complex medical issues which is stressful enough on its own.

Original prescription signed out by persons unknown! When trying to get replacement prescription we are given different information by different staff each time we call. After 2 days we are then advised we have to wait 48 hours and they still have a few more hours. Missed chemist pick up time and now have to chase at least once a day to see if we can get this signed. Last time this happened locum wanted to see her before they would sign a ‘repeat’.

Now have to try and find someone to pick up prescription as my mum is housebound (if it ever gets signed).

No communication between staff members and the stock ‘I can only apologise’ only works when a procedure is put in place to remove/resolve the problem.

I am sorry to hear you are having a problem with medication for your Mum, I would be very grateful if you could contact me The Practice manger so I can see what has happened and maybe give a full explanation, also I am concerned if someone else has collected a prescription for you and you don't have it then I need to report to the police and the CCG. We aim to deliver a good service to our patients and in a timely manner but with any issues I would rather someone speak with me first so I can investigate.
