"Midwifery care is non existent"

About: Broomfield Hospital / Maternity

3 day old baby required a blood test for jaundice.

Doctors and consultants were good and very understanding, however midwifery care is, in my opinion, way below an acceptable standard.

We had our baby at a Colchester General Hospital, due to an extremely bad experience with our first born at Broomfield, and the difference in midwifes is extremely apparent.

Colchester midwifes were caring, understanding, listened and explained.

At broomfield we had to chase for anything, and I appreciate the hospitals are busy, but mostly the midwifes were sitting on their mobile phones at desks.

There was minimal support, which is so important when you have just had a newborn baby.

It felt as though you were an inconvenience.

Thank you for the feedback it is appreciated.

We are really sorry that your experience of our maternity services was lacking when compared to Colchester.

I would be interested to know if the experience was mainly on Postnatal Ward, Birthing Unit or both? please let me know patient.experience@meht.nhs.uk

Best wishes
