"Excellent Care"

About: Bpas (northampton)

.I’ve never written a review before, for anything.. but felt the need to after I had read the negative reviews and felt anxious going to BPAS at northampton after reading the reviews.

So here goes. So first of all I would like to mention I am a nurse so would like to think I know how these things happen, albeit I know nothing about obs&gynae.

So on finding out I was pregnant and having 3 children already I knew I would never cope with a 4th!

I contacted BPAS at 6 weeks exactly and the woman at 7pm in the evening was so lovely and made my appointment for me, it was for a week and a half later which I found annoying to have to wait so long, but hay ho they are busy!

That day came and I was early for my appointment and hadn’t been able to print and complete the forms they had requested by email because my printer was out of ink, this wasn’t a problem I filled it out when I got there and handed it back to the reception lady, she then asked a lot of questions some of which I thought were not maybe appropriate to ask at a reception desk, but there was no one else there so I didn’t feel uncomfortable answering. She asked me to take a chlamydia test, which I didn’t feel I needed as I’ve been married for 12 years! and wasn’t asked if I felt I needed one, but I completed it anyway. I then saw a lady who did all my observations and height and weight a finger blood test and then waited to see a midwife called Sam.. she was lovely as was everyone I had met she talked about my medical history and did a dating scan vaginally which wasn’t painful or even uncomfortable. After she talked through my options. I chose the surgical procedure because I also wanted a coil which they can do at the same time.. The date was set for 4 days later.

So 4 days later.. I arrived on time for my appointment, the midwife took my obs and gave me some meds under my tongue.. I waited for what felt for ages, then I was called through to the recovery area and was given a gown and slippers to put on. The procedure was unpleasant, but not painful. I felt the injections into my cervix which we’re not overly painful, but I felt nothing else and had a coil fitted too in less than 5 mins.. then I felt mild pain, but nothing really just like having a period. I had biscuits and a hot drink and waited in the waiting room for discharge.

I have to say it was simple and straightforward and every nurse/midwife I met was lovely! I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend their care!
