"Felt at ease at New Roads"

About: New Roads

(as a service user),

I felt my assessment went well. I was anxious at the start of the assessment but soon felt at ease, that I wasn't the only person that had issues with drinking alcohol.

I felt I was wishing and trying to get all my experiences with drink all in one go, which I soon realized it's going to take time, but I feel now that I made that call to New Roads and it was my first step, after years of alcohol, and the loss of all my family, I had to do something otherwise I would be dead not celebrating my 50th birthday.

Thank you for your comments, golfer779. I'm pleased you were able to feel at ease soon after attending for your assessment. It's common for people to have a lot to say in their first session. It's as if, once the decision has been made to talk to someone outside your immediate circle of family/friends, all the pent-up frustration of not previously having that someone wells up inside you, once you are able to talk. I'm pleased that you've been able to seek help and that you've found New Roads supportive.
