"Discriminated against for being a traveller"

About: Sorsby Medical Practice

(as a service user),

I and my daughter had been registered at this practice for a year and were allowed to register knowing that we were travellers with no set postcode, however this would be the most local medical practice for us. On a routine visit an extremely staff member questioned my post code and even after explaining my circumstance they unregistered my daughter as soon as I left the building. This is discrimination, and the entire attitude of the staff is appalling.

The Doctor was extremely rude to me and disrespectful when I choose to not immunise my child which is entirely in my right.

Dear Patient

Thank you for sharing.

I apologise for the experience you had at the practice recently

I can assure you that we are committed to offering health care to everyone equally here at Sorsby this is regardless of ethnicity or background. We take on the Diverse population and are keen to register new patients here. I apologise that you were treated in this way we would most defiantly not discriminate against an individual or family because of their background or living circumstances.

If you would like to contact me at the surgery to discuss further I would be happy to help you.

Michelle Caulker

General Manager
