"Turned Away From the Hospital"

About: Queen Victoria Hospital (East Grinstead)

I live in East Grinstead and have always supported the QVH. However, I no longer feel I’m able.

I fell over in the street cutting my hand and injuring a finger. I went to the Minor Injuries Unit and was told by the nursing staff to go to Crawley as they were about to close this is at 7:55pm. I couldn’t drive so had to sit outside on a bench waiting for a taxi outside the unit. I was still there at 8.10 when the nurses all left and drive home. They didn’t even ask if I was OK when they saw me out side. It turns out my finger was broken and had to come back to the QVH the next day.

Dear Anonymous

I was very concerned to read of your experience following your recent attendance to our MIU. It would be important to be able to understand what happened to you and to investigate the significant issues that you have reported. This is not the experience that we aim to provide.

Please contact the PALS service qvh.pals@nhs.net providing us with your name and the day that you initially attended to enable us to progress this.

I await hearing from you.

Nicolle Ferguson
