1 week after an operation at ARI (Aberdeen) carried out by Mr Ahmed for a Dupuytrens lump removal but under a local anastetic. The local was suggested at the consultation and I thought it a better option than a general. The local was combined with something that reduced blood flow to the hand also negating the need for a tournaquet. After the first 'pin prick' the other injections didn't hurt at all and after 20mins the operation began.
Very relaxed and I was able to watch some of the procedure (not for everyone). As a result of the local, I was discharged a couple of hours after the op had finished without some of the side effects that a general can incur.Very positive experience.
