I have only praise for all the staff on Chesterman 2, Coronary Care Unit, Firth 7, also for the TAVI nurse specialist and the cardiologists who managed and continue to manage my care.
I underwent the transcatheter aortic valve implantation fully informed and aware of the risks and benefits, my family were with me until I went for the TAVI and kept informed by the Chesterman 2 staff of my progress and my transfer to CCU.
The care on CCU was exceptional, when I developed unpreventable complications (I was aware of the risks) these were dealt with quickly with the utmost care and professionalism and my family supported throughout. Truly holistic care. They were fantastic.
The cardiology medical team and TAVI nurse were brilliant and as I live outside of the Sheffield area they ensured that I was referred on to the physiotherapists and occupational therapists and the medical team required to manage the effects of the complication I experienced in the area where I live.
Coronary care does not have same sex accommodation given the acute nature of the ward but there is an ever present respect for your privacy and dignity throughout. I never felt it was compromised.
Thank you
"TAVI"
