"No real hope"

About: Birmingham and Solihull Mental Health NHS Foundation Trust

I was left feeling very desperate by my experience. Went for an assessment with Birmingham Healthy Minds, went through my complete mental health history, advised I would need psychotherapy but they could not offer any further help, discharged there and then, without a care plan, back to GP, GP cannot offer anything further either so I am getting no help now for my mental health. In the meantime we have had a family bereavement which has made things even worse. However bad things are though

I would NEVER ever be tempted to relive this experience and go back to BSMHT - I shared very personal things with them, which was actually quite traumatic, and they have offered me absolutely no hope, they seem to have no resources to provide any support and just didn’t seem interested.

We are sorry to read about your experiences with our service and your current situation. It is the case that our Healthy Minds service cannot offer psychotherapy. However we can suggest third sector agencies (voluntary agencies and charities) that may be able to offer psychotherapy. GP’s can refer their patients to our Community Mental Health Teams but there will be criteria for accessing these services. You may wish to have a discussion with your GP or to contact our Customer Relations team on 0800 953 0045 who will be able to contact our Healthy Minds Clinical Lead for you. We appreciate your feelings about making further contact but it may help with assessing further options.
