My local GP referred me to the hospital because she suspected I had parkinson's, because I was about 60 and because my right hand was constantly shaking. Got an appointment with a consultant a few months later.
After our interview he said I probably did not have Parkinson's but signed me up for a DAT scan and MRI a couple months later.
After this I got two letters, one which said I did have Parkinson's after all, the other that my follow up appointment with the consultant was cancelled.
So now I had no idea whether I had Parkinson's or not.
I called Neurology to find out what had happened.
"You've been added to a waiting list" said the nurse.
"How long will I have to wait to see somebody?"
I asked.
"How should I know?" came the answer.
I was so stunned I didn't know what to say.
I called back a little later and this time got an appointment 6 months later.
What a joke.
"They didn't want to know"
