I went into Arrowe Park for a operation to get my tonsils removed on the 5 November 2018, the staff who got me prepared in the SEAL unit were all amazing and made me laugh knowing how frightened I was as it is my first time ever in a hospital, the anaesthetic doctor was amazing and made me laugh when he asked me to count up in Spanish when I was being put under general anaesthetic and also made my mum laugh who was awfully worried when he went ‘adios’ as I fell asleep something I think is hilarious , my operation ran smoothly and was the best experience I could have had , although when in recovery my mum was told she would get a call when I come out of surgery so her and my boyfriend could come visit me , 45 minutes after I came out none of my family had come and I was scared the nurse then only offered me my bag with my belongings in and I text my mum myself saying I had been waiting 45 minutes for her and she was shocked she was not informed by the nurses herself, my boyfriend was not allowed to stay as it was a female ward only which I understand but imagine if my father had brought me , what would I have done on my own for six hours in pain? It should be allowed that the curtains could be closed if you want males to come see you, and I think it would be a good idea to specify that on the letter as I could imagine if a mother brought a son or a father brought a daughter it would be unfair to not allow them to see them while they are in recovery. other than that the hospital looked after me amazingly and I can now say I’m no longer scared of hospitals as I once was x
