What I liked
I was admitted as a Day Patient in January. The system was faultless from the minute I walked through the door. All the staff were absolutely perfect and treated me as an individual, with fantastic efficiency and care. Everything ran like clockwork...Well done. Often people are to quick complain these days but we must remember to give positive feedback when we are happy too! 'Thank you' to all the staff, admissions desk, nurses, porters and theatre staff etc for doing a great job.
What could be improved
Drop off parking was a bit haphazard. We were concerned about parking in the 'yellow box' as told, so drove onto a 'drop off' space, only to read that someone needed to stay in the car. This was not possible so we took the chance of leaving the car while I rushed into the day surgery centre. My husband didn't sit and wait with me until called to go through for surgery in case there were problems with where we had left the car. We could have done without this stress really. Collecting me after surgery was similar and I would have preferred to have walked a shorter distance to the car! Maybe a few well defined 'drop off' parking spaces for day surgery would be something to consider in the furure please rather than being told it's OK to park in the 'yellow box' for short periods.
Anything else?
I was given plenty of leaflets about follow up care and advice. There is always a lot of information to take in on these visits which can't always be remembered at the time.
The nurses ensured that I had the correct medication to take home with me too.
The cups of tea and sandwiches after surgery were a lovely sight too!
"Extremely happy with my experience of day surgery..."
